Judith Alstadter
Dr. Judith Alstadter is a concert pianist, music educator, lecturer, and
recording artist. She has achieved recognition and praise for the
beauty and virtuosity of her interpretations and the originality of her
programs. She has concertized in the United States, Europe, and
the Caribbean, including appearances at Alice Tully Hall Lincoln Center
and Carnegie Recital Hall.Judith Alstadter's Alice Tully Hall series devoted to the complete works of Gabriel Faure, heard for the first time in New York, was widely acclaimed for "keyboard command," "sensitivity," and "color, imagination, dramatic flair."
Other New York appearances include recitals at Carnegie Recital Hall in a series entitled Romantic Women Composers, praised for its uniqueness and sensitivity.
Born in New York, Judith Alstadter is a graduate of the Julliard School where she studied with Rosina Lhevinne and Sascha Gorodnitzki, and holds a Doctoral Degree from Yale University School of Music, where she studied with Ward Davenny. She also studied in France with Jeanne-Marie Darré.
A well-known music educator, she has been affiliated with several universities and colleges including Pace University and Five Towns College in New York, and Eckerd College Osher Life-long Learning Institute in Florida. She is a popular speaker, performer, piano and chamber music coach, and workshop clinician for colleges and music organizations.
Judith Alstadter is an official Steinway Artist. She was honored by the French government for her contributions to French music in America with the medal of "Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters."
Judith Alstadter currently divides her time between New York and Florida.
